Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher – Intern Eligible Job Summary

Aseltine School’s Mission is to educate and empower students to become critical thinkers of the world.

Aseltine is a small, K-12, nonpublic/private special education school currently interviewing teachers to fill positions for summer school and the 2025-2026 school year.

We are seeking teachers who are:

-EXPERIENCED but seeking a school that matches their passion and NEED to get back to TEACHING vs. navigating political hoops.

OR

-NEW to the field but are seeking a dependable team for PERSONALIZED on the job training and ongoing support.

The applicant:

1. Who has a valid CA Mild/Moderate Support Needs (Education Specialist Instruction) Credential Level I or Level II with CLAD Certificate of English Learner Authorization AND Autism Spectrum Disorder Authorization is preferred.

2. Should have previous working experience with special education students in grades K-12.

3. Who possesses strong prior experience in writing and implementing IEPs; and in Special Education accommodations and supports, including differentiated instruction, is desired.

We are looking to hire full-time CA credentialed teachers; however, interns or individuals seeking to enter a credential program may also be considered if they meet criteria for an accelerated program through the University of the Pacific at a reduced tuition rate.

Essential Elements:

-Instruct students with mild to moderate disabilities; develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans and instructional materials designed to meet the needs of diverse students; evaluate/monitor student performance; write and implement IEPs and behavior plans. 
-Collaborate and lead classroom staff with guidance from administration.

Aseltine offers a competitive salary and a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and Life/AD&D/LTD insurances. Please note that a sign-on bonus will be paid to candidates who have a clear credential with the added authorization in autism and who have previous experience working with students of our similar population.
